Mission:
To provide a comprehensive counseling program that promotes a culturally responsive and safe learning environment for all students. To reach this aim, the counselor will lead, advocate and collaborate with stakeholders through various venues of communication. This will ensure equitable educational practices where all students will have access to learning opportunities, enhance their social emotional learning (SEL), soft skills and improve their academics. Counseling services will be provided in a proactive and preventative manner to make sure that all students achieve school success.

Roles:
  • Implement data-driven interventions to improve SEL and interpersonal skills 
  • Apply academic achievement strategies and progress monitoring assessment tools
  • Promote higher education and career readiness
 
Appropriate duties include providing:
  1. School counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards
  2. Short-term counseling to students
  3. Referrals for long-term support
  4. Collaboration with families/teachers/ administrators/community for student success
  5. Advocacy for students at individual education plan (IEP)
  6. Student-Focused Meetings
  7. Data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges
  8. Acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement and opportunities for ALL students
